At Henderson Avenue Primary School our primary aim is to grow confident children who aren’t afraid to take risks, make mistakes and who have dreams and hopes that take them beyond the day to day. Through our implementation of a skills-based creative curriculum we aim to give our children ownership of their learning, by placing the emphasis on what our children need, involving them in deciding what they want to learn and the very best way they feel they can learn it through a varied diet of learning and social experiences.  Our responsibility is to encourage each child to look beyond their immediate environment and experience, to open their eyes to new possibilities, to broaden their horizons and to take full advantage of the opportunities open to them.

We know that learning must extend beyond the school walls and our aim is to involve the whole community.  We believe that every member of our community is a learner for life and our intention is to promote ambition at all levels, valuing success in whatever form it may take.  In a true learning community the staff will become learners too, and so we want our staff, along with the children, to become a little braver and take a few risks as they build up their own confidence and expertise.     We feel that we can enrich the lives of our children by offering them a wider perspective of the world they live in.  To do this we aim to engage with professionals outside education whose contribution enhances what we currently provide in school, so that children of all abilities, nationalities and languages are given equal access through the media of art, music and creativity to generate genuine chances of success for all.
